This area encompasses all topics related to the analysis and study of the various technical, structural, and functional aspects of rigid pavements.
Papers submitted in this thematic area may address aspects related to the design, construction, service performance, and rehabilitation of concrete pavements, as well as those related to the evaluation of their structural and surface characteristics, including the equipment and methodologies used for these purposes.
» THE AREA TOPICS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Structural design and dimensioning: Design methods; structural modeling; load transfer analysis and joint design.
• Concrete materials and technology: Characterization and selection of materials; mix design and optimization; special concretes (fiber-reinforced concrete, roller-compacted concrete, concrete for High-Performance Technologies).
• Construction processes: Construction technologies and equipment; construction process control; placement, protection, and curing practices.
• Quality control and evaluation: Laboratory and field testing; structural evaluation; functional evaluation; standards, specifications, and equipment.
• Behavior and performance in service: Structural response to loads and environmental conditions; cracking: causes and control; long-term performance analysis.
• Durability and deterioration mechanisms: Concrete pathologies; chemical and environmental actions; durability and prevention and control strategies.
• Rehabilitation and maintenance: Repair and reinforcement techniques; structural rehabilitation; conservation and management strategies.
• Sustainability and innovation: Life cycle analysis; carbon footprint reduction; use of recycled materials and circular economy; digitalization, instrumentation, and monitoring.
